Zachary Kobrin is an accomplished attorney with a long track record working on behalf of clients in the marijuana industry. Zack currently serves as the Vice-President and General Counsel for Trulieve Cannabis Corp., one of the largest cannabis companies in the United States. In his capacity with Trulieve, Zack oversees all legal and compliance matters for the company, including but not limited to mergers & acquisitions, litigation, IP, regulatory, transactional and labor & employment matters in all markets that Trulieve operates in. 


Prior to joining Trulieve, Zack was a partner with Akerman, LLP, in its nationally recognized cannabis practice, where his practice involved advising clients on the evolving, complex legal and business issues impacting companies with interests in the marijuana and hemp industries. Zack advised a number of entities on areas such as business development and formation, as well as legal and regulatory and compliance issues in the marijuana and hemp industry throughout the United States, and emerging international markets. Zack also advises clients on developing federal and state public policy matters and banking and insurance issues impacting clients in the marijuana and hemp industry. Prior to joining Akerman, Zack served as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a multistate cannabis company, where he was responsible for all corporate and regulatory legal matters, including transactional, banking, and insurance matters; as well as ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations. Zack was also a key member of the team that helped take his former company public on the Canadian Securities Exchange.


He speaks frequently at business, legal, and industry events and amongst other honors and responsibilities, Zack was appointed by the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services to serve on the Florida Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee, where he currently serves as its co-chair. This statewide advisory board is composed of industry experts, advocates, advisors, and consumers to help give input, guidance, and insight on moving the medical cannabis program forward as voted by constituents of Florida.


Zack’s experience in the cannabis industry is not limited to Florida. Zack has worked with and provided counsel to clients, regulators, and colleagues in multiple states and countries. As a result, Zack understands the legal and regulatory intricacies of various markets, as well as how the law has and continues to develop.


Zack earned his J.D. and undergraduate degree from Florida State University. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida and the District of Columbia.
